Trip to EdVenture Children’s Museum

This is our Popcorn Sales trip. We will be spending the night at the museum. The night will include a pizza dinner, snack and a cereal/fruit breakfast in the morning. A program is planned specifically for our two separate age groups of 6-8 and 9 and older.

This is an unparalleled 67,000-square-feet of turbo-charged learning and fun - the biggest children's museum in the South. It is designed for children 12 and under.

A few of the exhibits there include: The Great Outdoors, this is environment, electricity and conservation. World of Work, covers a diversity of jobs, including farmers, mechanics, firefighters, scientist and builders. Mission Imagination, this covers communication through art, music, movement and words. Other sections are: BodyWorks, & Critter Garden.

If you sold $250 of popcorn you have earned one trip.

If you sold $125 of popcorn you have earned ½ trip.

If you sold $65 of popcorn you have earned ¼ trip.

Cost you will need to pay for trips or parts of trips not earned by selling popcorn.

One trip costs: $35.00

¾ trip costs: $26.25

2/3 trip costs: $23/30

½ trip costs: $17.50

1/3 trip costs: $11.65

¼ trip costs: $8.75

1/8 trip costs: $4.38

So please let us know as soon as possible.

Final date to turn-in money – March 11th, 2008
Also all paper work is due at this time.

We have use of both of the church vans. Please let us know if you plan to ride in the vans. If they both fill up then you will need to provide your own transportation. So please let us know what you plan to do. If you do plan to drive please check and see if we have your vehicle and insurance information. We have to file a tour permit and this information is very important.

***Important note: On Saturday morning we can tour the museum as long as we like. After we finish we plan to go next door to the South Carolina State Museum. The pack is paying for this. You will need to bring money for lunch. We will be returning sometime in the late afternoon on Saturday.

Tips for Your Overnight EdVenture

• Please limit to one bag per participant
• Please leave provided parking passes in dashboards of all cars left in EdVenture’s parking lot overnight. This will help our police department determine which cars are permitted to be in the lot. We will provide at check-in.
• All bed rolls and personal belongings must be removed from museum by 8:30am. Groups may stay but their belongings may not.
• Earned insignia (badges and try-its) are not provided by EdVenture. We provide a EdVenture fun patch ONLY.
• MENU – please understand that EdVenture’s menu is subject to change at the last minute. Please let EdVenture know of any dietary restrictions at least one week in advance of visit.
• Choose a song to teach to other campers during down time prior to and following group activities. Make this song your troop/group’s signature song. Have fun with it!
• Children must be with a chaperone at all times-including bathroom breaks!
• Uniforms not required!
• Please remember to bring all health history forms. Troop leaders are responsible for your troop/group’s medical needs during the Overnight EdVenture.
• Your troop will be assigned an appointed time to visit EdCetera, the EdVenture store on Saturday morning.
• Troops are invited to stay on Saturday to explore the museum with their overnight chaperones at no additional cost once their belongings are out of the building.

Overnight EdVentures
Guidelines

Group Leader:

• Overnight EdVentures check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. Unless prior arrangements are made, no one will be admitted before that time. If you are traveling by car, please try to arrive as one group.
• Enter EdVenture at the main entrance and park in the parking lot. Check in at the Welcome Center.
• Remember those medical authorization forms! Admission will be denied to children who do not have a form.
• Outside doors will be locked upon your arrival. Except for emergencies, everyone (including adults) must remain inside the building for the duration of your Overnight EdVenture.
• EdVenture Children’s Museum is a smoke-free facility.
• Leaders must notify EdVenture in advance of children with special dietary needs.
• EdVenture Children’s Museum staff cannot administer medication.
• Please call 48 hours prior to your Overnight EdVenture to confirm your attendance numbers and fax the Parental Release/ Medical Authorization Forms.
• EdVenture Children’s Museum expects chaperones to be responsible for the group’s behavior and supervision at all times.

What to Bring:

• Sleeping bag or bed roll
• Pillow
• Comfortable clothes that you can sleep in
• Toothbrush and toothpaste

What NOT to Bring:

• Food, candy or gum
• Electronics or other valuable items
